vice-president's message Onw again svc come to the end of a school year and are given the opportunity to reflect on its sig- nificance. For a few of you. it marks the end of jour college career; for the other only a milestone in your aca- demic journey. For the College, it has undoubtedly been one of the best years in its history. We have had both quantity and quality in the student body. An increase in enrollment of eighteen per cent fias almost brought us to capacity proportions, and we .ire being faced with the possible need to limit our student laxly for next year. This means the time has come for us to he more selective than ever. As graduates and upper-classmen, you have an opportunity, to participate in that selectivity program by choosing from your community to enroll in McMuny College only those with alx»ve-averagc ability, character, and interest in the Church. I .im sure you can look back on many experiences and relationships which have contributed toward making it so First would lx- the experiences of friendships. Surely, one of the greatest relationships is that of friendly exchange To make friends with one’s teachers, with ones classmates, with dormitory associates, with church people, with teammates, with advisors and, to a limited extent, with business people is a part of the wonderful op|mrtunity that McMunry College presents. Second, to Ik- a part of a group which has made progress, and Inis accomplished worthwhile things, adds to the significance of tin- year, You have grown mentally and spiritually in the activities of this school year. You have gained a market) maturity through social adjustment, meeting frustrations, and completing larger un- dertakings. You have met problems and, as individuals and as groups, you faces! these problems squarely and honestly. All mav not have been resolved satisfactorily, but the accomplishment of meeting them has contributed toward a successful year. Finally, if this has been a good year, you have grown spiritually. As a Christian College, we strive to challenge you to lofty aspirations. In most instances your responses have been gratifying. It is not the purpose of education solely to arid to your social culture, give you greater earning capacity, and enrich your knowledge, as important as these are. It is, also, our purpose to provide for you opportunities to grow in spiritual grace, to strengthen your belief in Cod. ami to develop within you a deep desire for sen-ice to your fellow man.
