These life-long relationships serve as motivat- ing forces which spur us on in our activities. As the cultivation of friendship becomes a part of our personality and character, so the true friend becomes a part of us—one who shares our pleasure and helps bear our sor- rows. Cicero is quoted as saying, “Friendship improves happiness and abates misery by doubling our joy and dividing our grief.” May we grow in friendships by offering ourselves as friends. CORDON R.
