If so, in many cases you would have to travel the world to see and learn about them. However, at MHS it’s different. This year, we were lucky enough to host exchange students from all of these places. Through the International Club, they taught us about their homelands and cultures. Throughout the year, visitors from other countries speak to the school through the International Club. Students from McMinnville who have travelled abroad also share their experiences with members of the club. International Club is open to any member of the student body. Most members of the club are enrolled in a language course or are exchange students. Others are there just to enjoy. One of the biggest clubs in the school, International Club keeps in step with its regular meetings and activities. Meeting in the library at least two times a month, club members stay informed. This year, 8 Spanish students got the opportunity to spend their spring break and one week of school in Mexico. Accompanying Mr. and Mrs. Romero were Jamie Walker, Matt Kendall, Alison Edelman, Lisa Stone-bridge, Paul Irwin, Jay Legard, Missy Bro-samle, and Nikki Brunell. These students spent 2 weeks experiencing another culture while shopping in the markets, swimming in the warm oceans, and enjoying the beaches of Cancun. International activities such as these help students learn that there are people just like them all over the world. Keeping in touch with other cultures has proved to be educational and fun! san Miller, Laurel Miller, Dust Stiles. Missy Brosamle, Jenny Clemens. Jenny Mattecheck, Carrie Martin. OFF TO A GOOD START Working together is what F.F.A. and Vica are all about. F.F.A. is full of hard-working students wanting to learn more about agriculture. A few of the many events which F.F.A. members are involved in are the National State Conventions held in LaGrande. They were also responsible for the Christmas tree sales and the plant sales. Our F.F.A. excelled very much as a Chapter and also as individuals. The students that were in F.F.A. ranged from Fresh- men to Seniors. Mr. Ben Stein is advisor. As for VICA, Vocational Industrial Clubs of America, it also is a hard working club. This club enables students to better their skills in their desired careers. VICA, also gives them better personal skills such as public speaking, self discipline, and self motivation. VICA Club is made up of students enrolled in courses such as mechanics, woodworking, or welding. Mr. Dick Sherman is advisor. F.F.A.
