BEYOND COMPETITION M-Club is a club consisting of students who have lettered in a sport during the school year. These athletes not only represent the school in their chosen sport, but also give their time to help out with club activities. These activities annually include the all school barbeque, Christmas dance and at times, special fund-raisers. Club advisers for 1987 were coaches Mike Cahill, Mike Gower, and Kirk Burgess. R.J. Vickie King Being from Sweden, I was fortunate enough to experience forensics. In my country, speech is not offered as a class, which is something I would like to see changed in the future. It not only made me feel more confident speaking among others, but it was fun too! -Angelika Cederkvist FORENSICS: (right center) (first row) Jeff Lucas, Trish Harris, Holly Spencer, Toni Rieder, Jennifer Reddick, Tracy Hermans, Greg Nelson, Kim Pinion, Mackie Hill, (middle row) Christian Rosen blu m, Charles Drabkin, Dennis Ballard, Jenni Avery, Chris Nelson, Jenny Boise lair, (back row) Sandy Armadillo, Jeremy Desel, Scott Jackman, Angelika Cederkvist, Karen Goodrich, Michelle Reschly, Brett Kron, Karin Collins. MAC SPEAKS OUT!! This year’s speech squad again brought home the “hardware”. With freshmen and new beginners, the Forensics Leauge doubled in size. The annual MIT was held in January at the McMinnville High School. Forty-two schools attended, so every speech squad member worked for weeks in preparation. It was a great success. Speakers competed throughout the year in hopes of reaching district, state, and national tournaments. Competing at state this year were Jeremy Desel, Jenifer Cruickshank, David Primozich, Jeff Lucas, and Scott Jack-man. Scott earned his second trip to the national tournament this year in Cincinnati, Ohio, qualifying through seven of the thirteen rounds, placing first in two of them. CONGRATULATIONS SCOTT! - 24 Dancing and dining weren't the only things on the agenda for Prom night. Others chose unique and original activities to pass their time a way. I'll bet you had no idea that Matt Burnett took one heck of a long walk that night or that Kathy Ekeskog called John. Melissa Thorne was admired by two illegal aliens and Holly Spencer ate a big oT plate of spaghetti with her. I'll even bet that no one was curious to know what Kris Graham or Charles Drabkin did either. Kris had a swell time celebrating her pop's birthday in Salem and loveable little Charles roamed the city leaving bis “marks everywhere. Perhaps some of you noticed them. He placed annoying little flyers on every car window. Hmmm! But I'm sure you will agree when I tell you that the award for the person having the best night would have to go to Mar-di Williams. She sat hidden. undercover, on her porch watching the prom cars go by and later topped her evening off with a movie entitled SEX OF THE STARS. It'll be a night she'll always remember. CONGRATULATIONS MARDI! Top Right: The 1987 Prom Court-Princesses Cindy Vossler, Molly Hay, Queen Jackie Moser, Princesses Rochelle Lanfear, and Karen Goodrich. Far Right Center-“Is this one okay Scott? Right Center-Michelle Chapman and Andy Foltz look a bit confused. “Wait a minute! Are you sure you're my date? Perhaps many of you were wondering who the strange woman with the video camera was at the dance. She may have followed you at some time. Well, it was none other than Mrs. Donna Nelson, the loving mother of Kelly, Bobby, and Greg Nelson. THE SOUND OF COLOUR a - 2 Luckily, the From of 1987 was a great success. Nearly 150 couples attended and it was a night to remember for all of them. It was a complete evening of dance, dance, dance, and when the time came to choose the 1987 Prom Queen, everyone was bursting with curiosity. Princesses Molly Hay, Rochelle Lanfear, Karen Goodrich, Cindy Vossler, and finally Queen Jackie Moser were called to the stand. Satisfied with the results, the music, provided by “GOOD TIMES” played on to a finish and even though it was a spectacular evening, it did have to come to an end. Clean-up was quick and the entire dance went smoothly. It definitely was a cherisha-ble event that will be referred to as the highlight of the year.
