2(1 6 The experiences I had in the play GREASE were rewarding. We had such a large cast that we felt like one big happy family and I would have to say that it was the best play that I have ever worked on. Even though the rehearsal schedule was tough at times, it was definitely all worth it. 99 -Toni Rieder THESPIANS: (center) (front row) Missy Goodman, Jeff Lucas, Karin Collins, (middle) Molly Hay, Shannon Cosgrove, Scott Jackman, Jenni Avery, Toni Rieder, Holly Spencer, Andy Foltz, Lillian Sherman, Lisa Beam, (back row) Don Endecott, Ron Pilcher, Trish Harris, Jeremy Desel. (Right) GO GREASE LIGHTNING!! (left to right): Andy Foltz, Adam Campbell, Matt Mitchell, Dave Wichert, Gayle Davis, Scott Jackman, Chris Nelson, Sergio Ruiz, Ron Pilcher, and Jeremy Desel. E-N-C-O-R-E If you were to lazy to see this fall’s musical play GREASE, shame on you. You missed one heck of a production!! From Eugene’s (Robbie DeCrevel of Yamhill Carlton) adorable facial expressions to Kenickie (Scott Jackman) and the Burger Palace Boy’s fantastic version of GREASE LIGHTNING, the play contained super varieties of humor and drama and brought back memories of the good old rock ’n roll days of shimmies, bobby socks, and “mooning” out the car window on Saturday night. Knowing that GREASE was too large of a cast play for the High School cafeteria stage, directors Barbara Jelinek and Carol Burnett thought it more practical and better for the community’s comfort to move the production to the Gallery Players of Oregon Theatre downtown. The Gallery offered more stage space as well as two large dressing rooms and 100‘ better lighting and sound. GREASE set a new all-time record for selling the most tickets. It beat the musical hit ANNIE, put on two years ago in ticket sales. It even has an excellent chance for “BEST PRODUCTION OF THE YEAR” at the an- nual Gallery Players Award Night. (But keep it quiet. We’d hate to spoil the surprise.). This spring’s production of ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO’S NEST, directed by Mrs. Jelinek and Mrs. Burnett, was a humorous, yet chilling play that left the audience in awe. CUCKOO’S NEST was questioned at the beginning because of some who felt that it would be too difficult for a high school to produce. They were wrong. “We have a very strong drama group this year. I’m sure they can pull it off.” quoted Mrs. Jelinek about this masterpiece production. The Drama and Thespian clubs, without a doubt, have maintained a busy year. Not only did they produce two superior plays, but | they also performed a series of one-acts di- § rected by the advanced drama students. The i plays were as follows: JUVIE directed by 3 Karin Collins and Jeff Dell, THE DIARY OF ADAM AND EVE directed by Jennifer Reddick and Jennifer Richardson, PRESENT TENSE directed by Greg Nelson and Nancy Mcloud, and THE KID, an original play by Holly Spencer and Becki Hunt.

Vickie King Being from Sweden, I was fortunate enough to experience forensics. In my country, speech is not offered as a class, which is something I would like to see changed in the future. It not only made me feel more confident speaking among others, but it was fun too! -Angelika Cederkvist FORENSICS: (right center) (first row) Jeff Lucas, Trish Harris, Holly Spencer, Toni Rieder, Jennifer Reddick, Tracy Hermans, Greg Nelson, Kim Pinion, Mackie Hill, (middle row) Christian Rosen blu m, Charles Drabkin, Dennis Ballard, Jenni Avery, Chris Nelson, Jenny Boise lair, (back row) Sandy Armadillo, Jeremy Desel, Scott Jackman, Angelika Cederkvist, Karen Goodrich, Michelle Reschly, Brett Kron, Karin Collins. NATIONAL FORENSICS LEAGUE: (bottom right) (first row) Tracy Hermans, Jennifer Reddick, Jeremy Desel, Toni Rieder, Christian Rosen hi u m, Jeff Lucas, (middle row) Brett Kron, Holly Spencer, Karen Goodrich, Michelle Reschly, Jenni Avery, Scott Jackman, (back row) Dennis Ballard, Kim Pinion, Trish Harris, Chris Nelson, Karin Collins. MAC SPEAKS OUT!! This year’s speech squad again brought home the “hardware”. With freshmen and new beginners, the Forensics Leauge doubled in size. The annual MIT was held in January at the McMinnville High School. Forty-two schools attended, so every speech squad member worked for weeks in preparation. It was a great success. Speakers competed throughout the year in hopes of reaching district, state, and national tournaments. Competing at state this year were Jeremy Desel, Jenifer Cruickshank, David Primozich, Jeff Lucas, and Scott Jack-man. Scott earned his second trip to the national tournament this year in Cincinnati, Ohio, qualifying through seven of the thirteen rounds, placing first in two of them. CONGRATULATIONS SCOTT!
