Greg Kice HOMECOMING 86 I thought that Homecoming this year was great. The assembly was fun. Jason Cowherd, Matt Burnett, and Jason Lett running around showed us lots of Junior spirit. Unfortunately, I had to miss the game-1 was at GREASE-but when I heard we won our first game, I was so ecstatic, I hugged Jeremy Desel! -Becki Hunt Homecoming ’86 was not just another “hum drum’’ football game, it was a party that was fun for all. The week began with the Homecoming Assembly in which escorts Reuben Johnson, Bryan McRae, Mark Thomas, David Bocci, Dennis Ballard, and Tony Gunness announced this year’s princesses Victoria Wanless, Emily Longfellow, Heidi Schreiner, Mia Heidt, Karen Bernards, and Cindy Vossler. This year’s spirited activities included some old and some new themes. Graffiti Day was a tad bit different than what was usually expected. It inspired young writers and artists to express their deepest thoughts on t-shirts. This day was definitely a big hit! The second dress-up day was considered a favorite to most everyone. Many were happy that they didn’t have to fix themselves to look their best. They just threw on a hat and grungy clothes and were off to school. Why, some even thought it irrevelent to shave or brush their teeth. Why should anyone care, it was only Bum Day, so everyone was pardoned for their disgraceful appearances. Bum Day wasn’t the only event occuring on Wednesday. From three to nine p.m. was the ever-popular Class Decoration Contest. Students from every class packed into different areas of the school and cut paper, drew posters, and hung streamers until they could do no more. The Freshmen and Sophomores were responsible for decorating the gym, Juniors had the cafeteria, and the Seniors busily remodeled the lobby. Even though Thursday, Twin Day, wasn’t an original dress-up day for “veteran dresser-uppers”, everyone still had a super good time, especially Troy Peterson and Todd Niehus who appeared as giant GORILLAS. All in all the week went well, but when Friday finally came along, it seemed as if Homecoming ’86 had just begun to raise people’s interests. To begin with, a wild and crazy pep assembly rose spirits before the noise parade began. Queen Cindy Vossler knighted team captains Carlos Lomas, Larry Stafford, and Bobby Nelson to bring good luck at the game that night against the Beaverton Beavers. Obviously, Cindy’s magical touch did something for the team because the Grizzlies “BASHED THOSE BEAVERS” 29-17, our first victory! (Left) Big. Black, and Mean best describes the Senior Class on Homecoming week. They led the noise parade, and by the look on their faces, loved every minute of it. (Opposite page; middle) Without having to write out sixteen names, let’s just say that these bunch of animals meant business.
