r ma, i Mr. Bob Church, Dad s Club treasurer, and Mr. Sid Huwaldt, president, listen as Mr. Morgan carries on a discussion of the proposals of the Citizens’ Advisory Committee at the regular Dad’s Club breakfast meeting. The high school’s Dad's Club undertook a study of the district’s educational program. The outcome of this study was the Citizens Advisory Committee, composed of Dad’s Club members and other school patrons. This committee, headed by Mr. Robert Morgan as chairman, made recommendations to the board of education for a building program to meet the needs of our schools. The official action of the board was to present to the voters of the district a bond issue which would: move the high school to Consideration by the Board of Education of the recommendations of the committee became the order of business at this luncheon meeting of the board. The school clerks of the election are shown at the Ar- Im mory where the school patrons approved the bond issue. With an ever increasing enrollment, the once-adequate facilities of McMinnville High became inadequate, overcrowded, and outmoded. The picture above, left, shows the crowded conditions of the hallways as the students change classes. Another hindrance is the lack of facilities in many classes. Kay Benedict, above, right, is shown using the one sink that has to accommodate the entire biology department. Because of too few classrooms to accommodate Mac Hi’s many students, many classrooms must be used for several classes. This creates a problem of storage for the supplies and equipment that are used in these classes. Below, left, Larry Welch is working on his science fair project for advanced biology. This particular classroom is used for advanced biology, all art courses, and algebra. Another disadvantage of the present school is the inadequate space for lunchroom facilities. Below, right, is an example of the lunch line which forms each day, filling the hallway and blocking the stairs. 3
