Freshman Class The freshman class of '48 entered Mac HI with much enthusiasm, and soon began to take an important part in school affairs. Headed by president, Jack Nicholls and supervisors, Mr. Fryer and Miss Harstad, the freshmen carried out the traditional duties for the school. They all survived the customary initiation with the best of sportsmanship and proved themselves a fun-loving class. Through the year many students received excellent grades and proved themselves future honor students. Douglas Blensley lead the way with straight honor grades for two terms. Athletically, approximately fifteen freshman boys were on the football “B” squad. There was also a basketball team that included twenty freshman boys with ten to travel. In girl’s sports, the freshman girls proved themselves among the best both in skill and sportsmanship. The following freshmen were on the student council: Ed Beeler, Doug Blensley. Cliff Engel, Lelaine Weiss, Pat McClain, and Donna Barner.
