Third Row: Johnson, Strayer, McPhillips, Seastrand, Warmington. National Honor Society The McMinnville Chapter of the National Honor Society of secondary schools was installed by the Forest Grove Chapter on February 16, 1948. Its purpose is to stimulate the scholarship, leadership, service, and character of all high school students. . Charter members of the local chapter are: Seniors: Hope Corner, Jack Dies, Betty Engel. Alice Fulham, Alice Garrigus, Donna Jacobs, Eugene Johnson, Ruth Kluckman, Jack McPhillips, Janet Rutherford, Jean Seastrand, Larry Slemp, and Esther Young. Juniors are: Donna Huston, Maurice Jernstedt, Carol Tuggle, Richard Strayer, George Warmington. and Jeanne Youngberg. Members are chosen from the upper one-third of the junior and senior classes in scholarship on the basis of outstanding qualities of leadership, service, and character. Officers for 1948 were: Larry Slemp, president; Hope Corner, vice-president; Alice Fulham, secretary; Jack Dies, treasurer; and Alice Garrigus, historian. Members of the faculty council are: Mrs. Lapham, advisor; Mr. Skinner. Mrs. Mc-Keever, Miss Showalter, and Mr. Dawson. I
