The first and second weeks the class was organized and officers elected. Near the end of the football season they labored industriously and built, as is the custom, the annual bonfire. The class suffered the usual initiation by the seniors in a manner much to their credit. They strongly supported their candidate for the queenship of the Senior Play. Graduated from the University of Oregon in 1933, he made an exceptional record in scholastics and activities. In both high school and college he held important student body offices. He earn. ed an end position on the All Northwest football team in 1932. During 1933-34 he coached at Reedsport. where his teams had exceptional success. He was then selected as coach for Dallas High School in 1934. Here also he met with success, Dallas tying for the football championship of the Willamette Valley League. In McMinnville Coach Bailey has turned out splendid teams in every field of sport. He has increased the range of competition to include many boys who have never before participated in athletics. Mr. Bailey is to be complimented upon his fine record, and we wish to thank him for the services he has rendered our school and hope that his success will continue in the future, ' V14 Football l CMINNVILLE High football team finished successfully one of the most grueling schedules in the history of the school. With a season of eleven games before them the Grizzlies began slowly, losing to Jefferson High and Eugene in the opening two games. From then on the Bears hit their stride and lost only one game, to Silverton, a heartbreaking 7 to 0 defeat. They played two tie games with Forest Grove and Sa- lem. With crushing power they defeated Tillamook, Tigard, Hillsboro, Albany, Beaver- ton, and Dallas. McMinnville scored 122 points to their opponents 84, 19 touchdowns against the opponents 13, and made 8 extra points to 6 made against them. Seventeen men were awarded letters. Nine will be lost when the seniors are graduated this spring. They are Blenkinsop, Loop, honorary captain for 1935, Trent, Bladine, Fogel, Forell, Jones, Engle, and Cellers. The eight men returning. which Coach Bailey will use as a nucleus to build his I936 tt-am are Jenner. Eborall, Sitton, Mullikin, Johnson, Mabee, Parsons and Duley. Besides the regular business and programs which it usually supports, the organization undertook, for the first time since its founding in 1931, a really large task. The League produced A'Cupid's Dream, an original pro- duction in which every girl in the student body participated. A Radio Guild was added this year to the list of departments which the girlsmay join. The combined membership of the groups include every girl in the senior high school. All of the girls athletics are under the supervision of the Athletic department. The League is maintained to provide activities and entertainment and to in- still the members with information of various vocations which may offer suitable occupations for them. The theme this year was The Ideal Girl and Charm. At each meeting one of the following groups gave a program pertaining to that subject: Social Service, Athletic. Commercial, Girl Reserves, Home Economics, and Program. The Pep Band N INE members comprised the Pep Band. They played at several football and bas- ketball games and at nearly every pep assembly and rally. Despite the fact that no ad- visor has been assigned them, they showed accomplishment and made a real contribution to our school spirit.
