'lio show this they won their first five games in a row without a loss. Their excellent defense supported them all through the season. Only two teams sc-ored more than one touchdown against the superb defense. They won over Huntland. Shelbyville. Hartsville, Grundy County. and Celina in succession. then tied the powerful Winchester team. won over a very big and spirited SNIA with a third and four quarter surge. lost to a powerful Manchester with only eighteen seconds left in the game. won over Livingston with a show of good offense. then lost a heartbrealcer to Sparta. Prior to the Sparta game. the Rebels jubilantly accepted their bid to the Kiwanis Bowl game. Billy Joe Hillis won reeogznition as all-Conference and all-midstate. while three of his teammates. Donnie Dur- ham. Larry Stanley. and Larry Prater received honor- able mention.
