fig 73-qaiffy During my vacation, I took a trip by air to the most beautifbl spots in the U.S.A. Naturally I went to McLeod first. Just as I stepped off the plane up whizzed a taxi, owned and operated by Gene Dauphin. He is working very hard to get ccxnplete control of the 'There and Back or Bust Taxi Company. We began talking and he offered to take me on a tour of the most interesting places. Since Gene was conducting this tour, the first place we visited was the Bloody Bucket Bar , which is owned and operated by Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Willis. Mrs. Willis is the former Irece Waters. Now where we find James we usually find Edith Williams. She is employed as the singer. These three CEdith, Irece, and Cottonl form the well known triangle. I deeply regreted leaving but I wanted to see the other classmates, so I da cided I had better go. While driving through town, we had car trouble Cwhich I later found was very usual with Dauphin's Taxil. Luckily, though, a filling station was on the corner. From the name I knew that the place was owned by ny old friend L. G. Walton. The surprise came when I heard that he had married Nellie Morgan, I would have guessed if I had thought back to our school days together. I went in to see them and we talked about our school: days. I asked about all of the gang that I remembered. They told me that Claudean Peacock and Margar- et Terry were operating a swell hamburger joint just a block down the street. Norma Reynolds, I learned, was Old Maid-in-Chief of the Tried and Failed Old Maid's Home . I also learned that Norma still had her eyes on the most Eligible Bachelor, Mr. J. W. Dortch. By this time, L. G. and Gene had the taxi. running again. We drove down to Claudene's and Margaret's place. I had a long talk with them. The first thing they wanted to know was if I had heard of Pat Smith's good luck - she had inherit- ed a million dollars and married the most handsome man. They were married before she inherited the money. Paul Liles is the head man of Tailored for the Taller firm in Houston. While we were talking, in walked Mr. and Mrs. Selman arid the two little Selmans. It seems as if Virginia had rather stop by here and eat tlmn to stay at home and cook. Soon after the Selmans came another old friend came in. It was none other than James Frances. He insisted that I go home with himg so I went. Well, it seems my surprises will never end - I didn't know he had married the former Helen Wilkins. I then knew why James insisted that I come. He was giving a big party for all of our old school mates. At the party I saw the social leader of McLeod, the very sophisticated Lena Bond. I also saw that great live-wire of the party, J. B. Walton, who has nothing to do but attend parties. ' When I went to the McLeod Municipal Airport to catch my plane for home, I saw the happily married couple, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald McLeod. You know, I'm sure, that Mrs. McLeod was formerly Miss Tina Joyce, and that Gerald is an engineer for a large firm. They were coming home for a visit. And, incidentally, I, Ollie Gale Ducey, am still a member of the Eligible Bachelors Association.
