90355 lst row: Mr. Siville, Thomas, Bell, Gateley, Iones, Tyler, Sandusky, Mr, Staff. 2nd row: Prince, Deitz, Hall, Millenbine, Sloan, Lee, Mansell, Robertson Foxes The 1956 basketball season, was cut short of wins in the won and lost record as compared to some of the teams of the past two or three years, but the Foxes, have this year, met some of the tinest teams in Illinois. The Foxes played in the Centralia Holiday tournament, where sixteen teams were entered. The Foxes made a very good showing as Pinckneyville only beat them 49 to 49. The Foxes went into the consolation bracket, defeat- ing Benton by 19 points. Quincy, a highly rated team, eliminated the Foxes by only eight points. The Foxes were invited back and are expected to put Mclseansboro on the map, as most of the Foxes are juniors and sophomores. They are looking forward to next year's tournament, so let's all go with them and cheer them on. The Foxes got off to a flying start by winning four out of their first five starts, but then it seemed the tide changed as they only won three out of the next ten games. The remainder of the schedule was somewhat even as they won five and lost four. The Foxes next year are in a conference with three other schools, namely Eldorado, fohnston City, and Metropolis. A name for the conference was chosen by the student body of each school. The schools will be competing against each other in not only basketball, but in football and track. The Foxes will lose only two seniors next year. If they keep up the spirit they had this year, the Foxes will be dreaded by all teams in the state. K642
