October 1, 1977 Washington, D. C. Mr. J. P. O’Donnell, President McLean-Waynesville University McLean, Illinois Dear Mr. O’Donnell: Recently our government sent Randy Strubhar and me to Korea where we were to carry on an investiga- tion of a captured Unidentified Flying Object. In the course of the travels made necessary by our inves- tigation, we had occasion to meet many of our friends of the class of 1966. In Washington, D. C., the day before our departure, we attended a Republican Fund Raising Dinner for Neil Braid, the Republican Nominee for President. After the dinner, Neil told us that if he were elected, he would appoint Gary Bristow to the post of Secretary of Agriculture. The day we departed, we learned that the airline which would take us to Chicago was Fawley's Flyers Inc., owned by Mark Fawley, world-wide philanthropist. When we boarded the plane, we were greeted by the charming stewardess, Connie Grant. In Chicago, we took time off to see a ballgame between the Cubs and the Cardinals. All-star shortstop. Bud Lane, hit a three-run triple in the ninth to pull the Cards to victory over the Cubs, despite the two home runs by the Cub all-star third baseman, Steve Hawkins. Having already seen so many of our old classmates, we decided to visit McLean to see if we could find any more of them. As we were driving down in our new Cadillac, we were stopped for speeding by State Patrolman Dennis Barr. Dennis, being a very conscientious young man, was torn between sentiment and duty: sentiment and a five dollar bribe almost won out. When we arrived at McLean, we stopped at Bailey's Standard Station, owned by Paul Bailey. While we were waiting for our car to be serviced, we learned that only two other classmates remained at McLean: They were Ed Sympson, owner of the world- famous Dixie Truckers' Home, and Bob Shaffer, owner of Shaffer's Farms, which now spread over two counties of land, McLean and DeWitt. The next significant stop was Colorado, where we went to see a rodeo. The top-point winner of the night was none other than the world-famous cowboy, Roger Rich. At dawn the next day, we stopped in Utah to avoid the desert heat. We spent the day at Runge's Road- house Inn, one of a chain of inns owned by Connie Runge. From Connie we learned that Lonnie Leadfoot Kirby had just set a new land speed record, eclipsing the one set last week by Kevin Lurch Lynch. Our final stop in the United States was San Francisco, where we attended an Evangelical Crusade, con- ducted by the Reverend Don Dennison who was assisted by Janice Michaels. From Donnie we learned that Jane Adair was also living in San Francisco. Happily married, Jane, the mother of six children, fills her spare time by giving band lessons. From San Francisco, we went by ocean liner to Hawaii. The steamship line was owned by Paul Loer- cher. Enroute, we were fortunate to see the world's top-ranked womens’ tennis player, Shirley Nelson, in an exhibition match. Later that night while we were resting in our cabin and watching television, we saw Diane Lynch win first place in the International Beauty Pageant. When we arrived in Hawaii, we stayed at the Hollander Hotel, owned by Miss Susan Holland. Enter- taining at the Hotel, were Bob Crownover's world-famous Aristocrats, who already have two gold records to their credit. The Aristocrats are managed by Stephanie Danezak. Susan told us that Connie Davis had been appointed President of an organization to find homes for Korean refugees. We also learned that Betty Marlett was carrying on Dr. Schweitzer’s missionary work in Africa. From Hawaii, we went to Korea, where we were greeted by five-star generals Gene Cisco and Brent White, who escorted us to the site of the U. F. O. Still bachelors, Randy and I are scientists, who devote most of our time to the study of aerial phenom- ena. Since our work is top-secret, I can tell you no more at the present time. Sincerely, 23 Ronald L. Witzig
