CLASS PROPHECY During the summer of 1973, Chuck Johnson, head coach at Cincinnati University returned to McLean-Waynesville. This is his story of what took place. I first stopped at Harris’s Coast to Coast Cafe. To my surprise, it was owned by Jon Harris. As I walked in. I bumped into a man in an army uniform. I looked up and recognized Jerry Barr. He told me that he was Commander of the Pacific and was stationed in Hawaii. I learned that Ken Cisco is a surfboard instructor there. Jerry and I decided to look up the rest of the Class of 1963. We started with the girls who had planned to go to college. We learned that Joy Westerfield was head of the home economics depart- ment at ISNU. Mary Marlett is a second grade teacher in Denver, Colorado. Kaye Westerfield. physical education teacher at U. High in Normal, told us that Teresa Danczak is head of the music department at the university of Miami. We decided to visit Jerry's twin brother. Jack, ftesident of Board of Directors of General Motors. We would visit Ken Smiley, President of G.M. while we were there. On the way. we passed a large cabinet factory. The sign said it was owned by Paul Bristow. We went in to see if it was the Paul we went to school with. It was Paul, and he told us that we could talk to Chuck Runge if we would stop at the Runge Implement Company. When we did, Chuck told us his two biggest buyers were Gary Fann and Denny Spaulding. Gary owned the biggest dairy farm in the country. Denny is half owner of the Spaulding Mclntire Research Farms. Next, we decided that we would go through the new County General Hospital. On the way I heard over the radio that Alvin LaMar had just accepted the position as head of the department of agriculture at the University of Iowa. When we arrived at the hospital, we were greeted by Janet Marlett. She told us that she is now married to the chief neurosurgeon. She said that Margaret Glaser is the chief nurse at the hospital. Carole Shrader also works at the hospital, as secretary to the Chief of Staff. That night we went to a basketball game. The M-W Colts, on the way to winning their fifth straight state championship, were coached by John Fox. After the game. Jerry and I parted company.
