MATHEMATICS The Mathematics Department is sufficiently flexible to adapt itself to the changing needs of the student body. Although no new courses were offered this year, in the past few years the programs of study have been modernized to keep in line with the nationwide trend in mathematics. As a result, the student is now able to pursue his studies from General Math 9, to Advanced Placement Math, which con- sists of college level calculus. Miss Edith Elliott. Dept. “Yes, yes, yes, yes, ... LIBRARY Mrs. Huckabee’s hideaway. No area in any high school or center of learning can exist without up-to- date library facilities. This includes not only books, but other material as well: audio-visual aids, periodi- cals, maps, films, filmstrips, etc. In our changing world of mass com- munication and increased knowledge, McLean’s library tries to keep abreast of the new publications in all areas. Teachers, administrators, as well as librarians, are constantly sub- mitting orders for new books and aids. A wide variety of physical education activities are taught at McLean, covering both team and individual sports. The team sports are taught to encourage physical skills, sportsmanship, and co-operation. The individual sports are stressed in order to provide’ students’ with recreational interest in later life. Besides contributing to the well-being of students through these programs, the Physical Education Depart- ment also offers courses in health, first aid, and driver education.
