Lyons, Jr. , who has done much to earn the honor and respect of the student body and the faculty of McLean High School. His intellectual alertness, his uncompromising determination, his limitless interest and his untiring effort, all help to make McLean High School a school of which we are proud. With an increased enrollment and a new wing to accommodate the new students, McLean High School opened its doors in the fall. Its pupils, in the dying shadow of a happy summer, quickly settled down to studying under the watch of their new teachers. The entire administration deserves a great deal of credit for the leadership, guidance, and interest in student activitiesg their display of good-will commands our respect and close co-operation. 1 X f fl A ci x -Q , , , . M W f Our Principal, MR. BURKS Our Assistant Principal, MR. LYONS N Our Assistant Principal, MR. RICH Secretaries Our secretaries work right along with the administration and deserve much credit for their big part in making this year a success. They realize that expert technical skills, while very essential, are not their only contribution. Just as important as their skills is their ability to work with the administration and students, understanding their prob- lerns. MRS. Its ultimate aim is for each student to reach a point of self- evaluation and self-direction. Its motivating force is a spirit of co- operation. The guidance program is not the work of a few specialists but the services of an entire pro- fessional staff working together with the home, the school com- munity, the classroom teachers, and the parents, to achieve its goals. The Senior Class In ending our last year of high school, we, the second graduating class will carry with us many pleasant memories. A few of these memories will be the senior English field trip-to Washington, the ex- citing trip to New York, the long awaited prom in our honor, and finally Baccalaureate and Commencement. As we leave McLean High School working toward various goals, we are confident of our abilities and are grateful for the vast store of knowledge we have gained. The Junior Class We worked hard to achieve our goal for the year - The Prom. Sell- ing school jackets and giving dances took a lot of time and energy, but we enjoyed it. With spring came the thrill of class rings, which sud- denly appeared on hands everywhere. We are looking backward with fond memories and looking forward to September when we will return to McLean High School - this time as Seniors. The Sophomore Class This year, our third year in high school, has been a very rewarding one. Selling pennants during school and at the games was our big money-making activity. We took an even bigger interest in clubs and activities this year, but never forgetting that citizenship and scholarship walk hand in hand. As we look back upon the past three years, we hope that the next two will be as wonderful and rewarding. The Freshman Class It has been a busy year, and we were more confident and more at home in our school. High School and all that it unfolds has opened its doors to us, and we took advantage of its opportunities to learn and grow. We worked hard on our big activity for the year - The Sweet- heart Dance. We are hopefully looking forward to our sophomore year. S 'os X if 1 X, -S i ...-... The Eighth Grade Entering high school for the first time, we felt little and lost. Even though we didn't have all the privileges that our upperclassmen enjoyed, we did what we could, and we knew that we really played an important part in the success of many school activities. We won respect from the entire student body for our large participation in the magazine drive. We are eagerly looking forward to next year when we will do even big- ger and better things as the Freshman Class. But I think the cover should have a blue eagle on a gold background. Oh, I can just see that now - Ugh! I I Marge stopped that idea with the cheery suggestion that we choose a cover later, Oh, and I can 't possibly forget the Saturday we almost got snowbound and the day Brooke lost her purse. Hot dogs and cokes from the drugstore also became our regular Saturday dinner, Along with being half starved to death, we also added missing copy sheets and overexposed pictures to our headaches. Among the numerous activities which took place were various dances such as the first annual Homecoming, the Christmas, the Sweet- heart, and the Spring Hops. Our third annual Sloppy- Joe Day was one of the best ever, and even the teach ers joined in the gaiety. Our third annual magazine drive was launched with the newly popular satellite as our theme. These activities and many more gave students an opportunity to enjoy a well-rounded so- cial life.
