.I.C.A. The Auto Mechanics section of the McLain Vo- cational Industrial Clubs of America Chapter has been hel ing to prepare students for the world of work. Business management was co- vered through field trips, outside speakers, films, and lessons in class. Personal skills in leadership and job entry were learned. A re- built engine and special tools were displayed at the annual McLain PTA open house show- case. Elmer Mabry is the Instructor and advisr for VICA. It is a cooperative, in that the busi- ness community is uti ized to provide part of the education through part time jobs. D.E. offers a rare educational opportunity to see classroom principles put into practice on the 'ob. D.E.C.A. is the youth organization of Distributive Educa- tion. Through DECA, students are able to plan and participate in social, civic, and charitable ac- tivities. From volunteers, stu- dents with good academic records are selected. When there are new students, coun- selors send for the welcoming committee members and intro- duce them to new students coming to McLain. We show them the building and gener- ally made them feel welcome, as members of the Welcome Mat .
