For three years our class has been privileged to study in an atmosphere which has been a constant challenge. The school is named for the man who was Presi- dent when our country took its place as a world power. Whenever from its portals we have looked out to the south, the capitol of the United States, the symbol of the sover- eignty of a mighty nation, has held the center of the view. In its wings sit the houses of Congress. Beneath its towering dome is an office for the Chief Executive. There for many years the Supreme Court sat. In sunshine and shadow it faces westward toward the Pacific, three thousand miles across fertile plains and lofty mountains. During our years at Tech great decisions were made in Washington's marble buildings, decisions which resulted in winning a terrible war and in the birth of the United Nations, the last hope for peace in a war torn world It seems fitting that the city which has so influenced our l1ves and education should be the theme of this book iff!
