H. C. STAUBI11 Zin aliemnriam Henry C. Staubitz, instructor in senior machine shop and later supervisor of all requisitions at Black Rock Trade school and McKinley Vocational High School for the past twenty-seven years, died on March 22, 1947, at the age of 59. He will be remembered fondly by hundreds of former McKinley students in all walks of life as a quiet, kindly gentleman who was always ready to aid his students in their prob- lems. Witli his passing, McKinley and the city of Buffalo lost a real teacher and a won- derful man. At one time he was the chairman of the safety com- mittee and also was in charge of supplies for defense training sessions. Mr. Staubitz had been ailing for the last three or four years, but inspire of this he continued to teach when he could possibly attend the school. He is survived by Mrs. Edward Gerecke, his daughterg two sons, Dt. Williaimi J. and Robert C. He was the grandfather of Sharon Lee Staubitz. MEMORIES GLEANED FROM BACK ISSUES OF THE ARTISAN . Yon nuff VEIIIUIIIIJEI' e1'ef'jlbirxg forerer - .,f'g-p.'.. M. Exterior View of our School from Elmwood Avenue A GAME GUY'S PRAYER Dear God: Help me to be a sport in this little game of life. I don't ask for any place in the lineup, play me where you need me. I only ask for the stul'I to give you n hundred per cent of what I've got. If all the hard drives come my way I thank You for the compliment. Help me to remember that You won't let anything come that You and I together can't handle. And help me to take the bad breaks as part of the game. Help make me thankful for them. And, God, help me always to play on the square, no matter what the other players do. Help me to come clean. Help me to see that often the best part of the game is helping other guys. Help me to be a 'regular fellow with the other players. - Finally, God, if fate seems to uppercut me with both hands and I'm laid up on the shelf in sickness or old age, help me to take that as part of the game also. Help me not to whimper or squeal that the game was a frameup or that I had a raw deal. When in the dusk I get the linal bell, I ask for no lying, complimentary stones. I'd only like to know that You feel I've been a good guy. -ChapIain'.r Digexl. Seventy-two l I
