Baseball at McKinley as all over America has been an enthusiastic sport. There have been many outstanding players from the McKinley teams. The most outstanding of these was Walter Chipple who is now playing with the Little Rock team of the Southern Associa- tion. Watlter is our only player to make the major leagues, having played with Wzlsltingtotl in the American League, His real name is Walter Chlipala, and he resides at 58 Grote Street. Ed Retzer, too small to play while in McKinley, was a great pitcher later on. At one time he was owned by Buffalo. Filly-nine

M.cKINLEY FOOTBALL DREW RECORD -CROWDS THANKSGIVING GAME TICKET SALE The student body of McKinley showed its wholehearted support of its championship football team, when it oversold its quota of 3 tickets per student. In addition, it outsold all the other high schools. The following nos. of tickets were turned in at the gate by the following schools. School Tickets Sold ' Ticket Per Student McKinley 257 5 3.8 Bennett 2317 1.1 Burgard 2204 1,9 Lafayette - 21 l9- K L3 The ticket sale was started at an assembly led by Mr. Kamprath, our assistant principal. He explained the football ticket contest between the major trade divisions of the school. The results were to be recorded on a large chart of a football Held posted in the corridor. He also pointed out that each rollcall which attained IOOQL of quota could put their group number on the back of their favorite player who was shown on a large chart of the whole team. A poster contest conducted by the student council under the supervision of Mr. Schwegler was announced. Mr. Brassaw and Mr. Hoole, our principal, conducted other assemblies in which the results of the contest were given, amid the cheers of winning groups. 'Victor Fronczak and Roy Svensson distributed the poster prizes, and set up' the poster displays in the halls. I Sixty-one
