One of the most active organizations at McKinley is the Mothers Club. No class day would be complete without the fine party with which the Mothers Club crowns this important day for each class. This club sponsors dances and parties, proceeds from which are used for buying additional equipment for the band or the football team or for helping any other worthy project. Besides these activities at school, the mothers have given baskets of food to needy families at Thanksgiving and at Christmas, have contributed to the Red Cross for flood relief, and have donated gifts to the Childrens Home Society. The club celebrated its fourth birthday with a party at the Town Club on lanuary 27, l937. Led by a strutting drum-mayor, it marches down the field and marches back again, making a brilliant splash ot color on the gridiron. This active organization also participates in many civic and social events, such as the clean-up parade and various convention programs. Under the leadership ol Mr. Hurnield, the band has achieved a prominent position in the lite of McKinley and, to all appearances, vvill long retain it.
