The attractive campus that manya Honoluluan has complimented was kept in top condition through the combined efforts of Jessie Taku- shi and Richard Kato, co-chairmen of the Campus Improvement and Beautification Committee. McKinley students would not be properly indentified were it not for the conscientious work of Ruth Komuro and George Tanaka, who iistributed our indentification cards. Providing McKin1eyites with inspiring and educational films zhroughout the year was the task of Beverly Nakama, Movie chairman PARTICIPATES IN COMMUNITY AFFAIRS Mary Chang and Gladys Hoo were our representatives to the Oahu Youth Council, which has done much for the benefit of youth. The success of our Lima Kokua Drive and other worthwhile cam- paigns in which we actively participated was due to the work of Mar- garet Tao, Community and World Relations chairman. The public's main link to the goings on as M,H.S.was made pos- sible throughworks of June Doi and Janet Inoue, Publicity chairmen. Representing McKinley at the Inter-School Council were Judith Asato and Warren Ishii, who strove to promote a closer feeling among :he various high schools. Our Alma Mater extended her helping hand to many this year. Spurring us to do this were Red Cross chairmen Sylvia Amioka and John Shinkawa, who proved that all you send into the lives of others :omes back into your own. Jean. Beverly Nakama George Tanaka - Ruth Komura Movie M.I.C.B. Our standing committees that have been responsible in abig way for McKinley's outstanding record. Harris Melemai, our energetic Spirit and Rally chairman, was responsible for the much improved cheering section this year. Bettering our cafeteria and improving health and safety problems was a dependable committee led by Judith Murakami. To visitors, newcomers, and the sick, our Hospitality chairrnan, Verna Yee, displayed our school spirit of friendliness. With great initiative, Bertha Tanaka, Guidance chairman, promo- ted many activities to increase vocational interests. Recovering lost items and finding owners of things turned in were the tasks of Yoshiko Nohara, the Lost and Found chairman. OTHER CHAIRMEN HELP As Court Commissioner, Leslie Nakamura, presided over court sessions in a fine manner. Our own Lanai Limalau received much improvement, thanks to the fine direction of chairman Jean Yoshida. Efficient!-IarrietNishiguchihandled the registration and orga- nization of each club on the campus as well as our dress policy. Always on the ball, Social chairman Barbara Tani kept all of Mickvile gay and happy with varied, well-planned social events. In addition to being an effective and just Chief of Police, James Kawainui helped solve many of McKin1ey's traffic difficulties. Aiding our Court Commissioner was Court Clerk, Joyce Kawa- hara.
