Government was to choose the finest candidates. Of this we were hope- fulwhen the results of the election were announced, and of this we were assured now that the year has come to a close. Our very able and keen-minded president, Kenneth Yoda, besides conducting meetingsand representing McKin- ,ley at various activities, served as an inspiration to the rest of the student body. His presence at many McKinley proj- ects and gatherings increased his popularity and served as an example to us all. Supervising the various standing committees and assist- ing our president whenever necessary, Lillian Lee as vice- president, accomplished muchthat added to the success of the year. And, ofcourse, we can neither forget nor overlook the splendid performance of an often unseen actress on the stage of our school government. She is Mrs. Mary Suther- land, friend and advisor, under whose guidance the entire staff performed a job well done. OTHER OFFICERS EQUALLY EFFICIENT Well-trained and accustomed to her duties as secretary, Lillian Koga displayed a degree of efficiency and prompt- ness hard to surpass. Very accurate and neat minutes and records were kept and her deadlines were constantly met. Her assistant secretary, Shinobu Okami, was a very neces- sary addition to the executive staff. Tooru Hara, an old-timer at the job of handling money, served as the treasurer and in applying his mathematical skill, helped us to enjoy a very prosperous year. In his job as assistant treasurer, Hiram Hironaka proved to be worth his weight in gold. Our four officers, their assistants, and advisor all con- tributed their time and energy to being an' effective and alert executive committee. To them we looked for and re- ceived the right kind of leadership necessary in any fine school government. Through the years, McKinleyites have added muc to present to us a government which touches the life o each citizen of Mickville but which has needed the sup port and cooperation of each teacher as well. As it should, it serves us--and in return, we servl it through various projects and activities. This yea we financed delegations to various conferences by col lecting newspapers and magazines for our Newspape Drive. The many standing committees of our govern- ment planned other activities and projects, thus enabling the entire student body to be active and interested citi zens. Without the conscientious efforts of one of the hardes working groups in school, our government system would no have been possible. When McKin1eyites went to the polls last spring to se lect their school government officers, their main though A HARD-WORKING CREW, INTENT ONSERVING YOU ...This line perfectly describes our officers who are, from left to right, Lillian Kogl, lecrehry 16
