Seniors U Other committees which functioned smoothly and efficiently in carrying out the various programs of the Class are the English Committee, the Health Committee, the Civic Service Committee, the Special Activities Committee, and the Library Committee. The respective advisers and chairmen are: Miss Elizabeth Keys and Lai lng Chang, Miss Abbie Dow and Asayo Nakagaki, Miss Lucile Hod- gins and Warren Zane, Mrs. Helen Griggs and Betty Chee, Miss Helen Strickler and Ethel Kawaguchi. 0 Closing an active year, the play Our Lean Years was presented on Class Day, May 20, with Seniors in the cast, under the capable direction of Mrs. Fern McQuesten. The Senior edition of the Daily Pinion, headed by Alma Lai, furnished the Seniors with an interesting 20-page paper. 0 Amidst flowing white gowns and leis of every hue, commencement exercises will be held on June 7 on the spacious campus of the school. Forming a procession on both sides of the campus, Seniors will file to the front of the Administration Building for their last hour and a half in school. 0 Getting together probably for the last time, the Alexander Young Hotel Roof Garden will be transformed into a scene of gaiety when the Seniors will dine and dance to the smart music of a popular mainland orchestra. INEZ KONG Vice-President HICHIRO MIYAMOTO Treasurer JFS Seniors bers of the class have contributed admirably to the success of the class this year. 0 One of the biggest projects of the year was conducted on November 24 when Senior por- ents were invited to attend the Senior Open House. Parents were ushered to the Core Studies, Pinion, Black and Gold, Model Store, and the Home Making Departments for a view of the versatile work done by the Seniors. Entertaining the parents in true Senior style, the Home Relations Committee, headed by Mrs. Lura Loader and Barbara Kano, provided the elders with music as well as other whole- some entertainment. 0 With Halloween costumes reigning, the Seniors enioyed an evening of dancing in their first social event of the year. Equally pleasant and enjoyable were the other two dances held in December and March. ln all the other dance frolics the Social Committee, under Miss June Johnson and Florence Mukai, func- tioned smoothly to give the Seniors a well- rounded social program. 0 Throughout the year other committees headed by capable teachers and students pre- sented assemblies on etiquette, music and literature. The Forum Committee, under Mr. Baldwin and Neil Kosasa, furnished the impe- tus for well-conducted forum discussions. 0 Acquiring poise and finesse from the Se- nior Forum discussions, the annual Senior Island Forum held on April l7 at McKinley offered no score to the Seniors when they boldly presented their views on Socialized Medicine, Neutrality, the Supreme Court, Labor, and Business and Government.
