WELCOME TO OUR NEW DEAN In 1953, McKendree college welcomed a new dean, Dr. Norman Grandy. Dr. Grandy replaced Dean L. B. Van Winkle who served at McKendree for six years. Coming to McKendree in 1951, Dr. Grandy was professor of philosophy and religion until his appointment as dean. A graduate of Lawrence College, Appleton, Wisconsin, he received his B. D. at North- western University, Evanston, Illinois; his M.A. at Garrett Biblical Institute, Evanston; and his Ph. D. at Northwestern. DR. DR. RUSSELL GROW poses at his desk in Stevenson House, Home of the President. MR. PRESIDENT Truly MR. PRESIDENT of McKendree campus, Dr. Russell Grow has added dignity and charm to the highest office at McKendree. A man of rare oratorical ability and an outstanding Methodist layman , he is very much in demand for speaking engagements. Dr. Grow is indeed an Ambassador of Good Will for our college. McKendree has grown and will continue to Grow With Grow ! A graduate of Northeastern State College, Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Dr. Grow holds his M. A. from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, and his Ph. D. also from that univer- sity. He became president of McKendree College in 1950.
