This yearbook holds the pictures of your classmates, teachers, and activities in a way which, unlike a memory, can never be for- gotten. As you turn each page, now or in years to come, a rich stream of memories will flow forth to enable you to relive each wonderful moment of this school year . . . Although memories fade as time passes you can always look with fond pleasure at this year, for your annual will remain your treasure house of school memories. The task gets under way in July when pages and contents are planned. By September the dummy book has been drawn and the day-to-day work begins. Each picture has to be sched- uled, photographed, and identified, During October outdoor schedules for homerooms and activities are completed. November and December bring pic- tures to be measured and captions to be written. Days of layout drawing and cover selections fill January and February. March and April End the stat? proof- reading galley sheets and checking page layouts. With May comes the finished book. Though the book is long in the making, there is satisfaction in knowing that it will be treasured for ci lifetime. BILL GAAL, FACULTY EDITOR REGINA MOORE, COPY EDITOR JOYCE MEANS. FO0TBllLL HE 1959 FOOTBALL campaign was a gloomy one for MHS fans as their Tigers brought home only one win in ten games for the school's Ieanest gridiron season since 1927. Coach Harold Duke Weigle and his assistants Charles E. Schaeffer and Noel A. Guyot saw their Tigers taste victory only once-against Monessen with a 27-14 win in the season's ninth outing. McKeesport's performance was actually better than the summary of wins and losses would reveal, for five ofthe defeats-to Glassport, Central Catholic, Har Brack, Johnstown, and Duquesne-were by one-touchdown margins and one, to New Kensington, by a one-point margin. A cheering note was the loyalty of student fans who supported their team enthusiastically in every contest. The most unusual game was the mud contest with Duquesne, played in a driving rainstorm before a few hundred spectators who outlasted the heavy downpour. Performed to capacity audiences for three con- secutive evenings May 6, 7, 8, at Vocational School Audi- torium, the play was directed by Miss Helen G. Malseed. Mr. Newton Fuller, played by William Earner, pur- chases a bargain priced farm at which George Washington supposedly spent a night. His wife, Annabelle, triple-cast with Cathy Battaglia, Gay Gelb, and Marianne McMahon, is horrified to find the complete absence of water, a kitchen, bathrooms, ceilings, and floors. Mr. Kimber, a local farmer and handyman, double-cast with Burt Chotiner and Ben Chotiner, informs the Fullers of other disadvantages and sets about correcting them in his own special way. Madge Fuller, the optimistic daughter, played by Michele Ohrman, Joan Derkas, and Mary Anne Pecora, and her boyfriend, Steve, played by Robert Latta and Mike Lebowitz, are delighted with life in the country, A weekend with a houseful of Madge's teenage guests is topped off with a visit from rich, cantankerous Uncle Stanley, played by Paul Krow, which ends in near disaster. Realistic sound effects and settings added much to the production. A great deal of credit must be given to the entire crew and cast. Other members of the cast were: Joyce Law, Jackie Jedniak, Kathy Perrotta, Mary Jane Reese, Carolyn Waters, Priscilla Jenkins, Chris Hlad, Gail Hoffman, Janet Taksa, Phyllis Gerber, Art Hill, Ray Stewart, Dave Worrall, Bob Kolich, Dick Link, Joan Crawford, Donna Hardy, Elaine Cook, Karen Larson, Linda Bower, Joanne Patton, Tim Kolich, and Dan Hardy. fha..
