Davis ELECTED BY THE CITIZENS of McKeesport, the Board of School Directors is charged with the responsibility of operating the Public Schools. The Board selects the Superintendent as chief administrative ollicer. Since September, 1956, McKeesport's Superintendent of Schools has been Mr. Arthur O. Horn. After his graduation from Franklin and Marshall College, Mr. Horn taught for two years in Jeannette. He came to McKees- port High in 1927 as a science teacher, was named principal of Fifth Avenue Building in 1929, and received his M.A. from the University of Pittsburgh in 1933. Mr. Horn became principal of Centennial Building in 1935, of George Washington in 1939, of Vocational in 1954, and of the High School in 1956. In September, 1956, Dr. Howard C. McElroy became Director of Cur- riculum. Dr. McElroy graduated from Wesleyan University in 1921, received his LL.B. from Duquesne in 1927, his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh in 1927 and 1939. Beginning in 1921, he taught French in McKeesport High until he was named principal of George Washington in 1929. Mr Shelby Erwin Vice Principal of the High School , JANUARY, 1957, marked many administra- tive changes in McKeesport High. Dr. Wayne E. Mason became principal of the High School. A graduate of West Virginia University in 1924, Dr. Mason joined the McKeesport Schools as a social studies teacher in 1929, became an elementary school principal in 1939, and principal of Vocational School in September, 1956. Mr. Benjamin Disegi became principal of Vocational School, moving from Shaw Ave- nue School where he had served as principal since 1954. Mr. Shelby Erwin continued as the Vice-Principal of the High School, and Mr. Bert Johnson continued as Director of Vocational Education at Vocational School. The Guidance Department, too, marked a change in January with Mr. A. James Gross HIGH SCHOOL ............
