THIRD BASEB LL DISPLAYING BRILLIANT form and good team work, Coach Abby Fallquist's 1956 baseball team came within two runs of maintaining the WPIAL title for the second consecutive year. The Tigers of Har-Brack, however, were too much for the McKeespo1't Tigers in the final play- off game, when Har-Brack handed McKeesport a 2-0 setback. This ended McKeesport's WPIAL hopes, putting their season's record at eleven wins and two losses. Although Ron Maser, the ace of the preceding year's tournament, pitched two winners, he remained idle most of the time due to an arm injury. The Tiger's closest competitor in the Section 18 race was Munhall who was responsible for the only MHS defeat in the regular season. The fighting Tigers became Section 18 Champs with a percentage of .875, representing seven wins and one loss. . MC KEESPORT HIGH'S 1956 track and field team after a promising start in the first two meets remained lukewarm for a rather un- exciting season. Coach Ding Schaef'fer's charges had their best showing in the first meet of the season when they defeated Oliver High, 86-32, and their worst when they lost to the highly regarded Mt. Lebanon Bluedevils who made a complete sweep of all fifteen events except the high jump. After losing six consecutive meets, the Tigers registered a 66-1X3 to 56-2X3 win over Duquesne in their final meet of the season. Ross Fichtner and Milan Dimich set the pace for the Tigers, Fichtner showing his skill in the 100 yard dash and the 440 yard run, and Dimich taking top honors in the discus toss and shot put events. 1956 SCHEDULE McK.
