To learn the student must have pref sented to him facts that he can grasp and under' stand. The teacher accomplishes this difficult task. Vv7hether the subject is math or shorthand, biology or history, the teacher helps the student to over' come the difiiculties of the course. A teacher is not only an instructor, but also a friend, an understand' ing companion. Vx7hen the student has become a graduate, he realizes that the teachers who gave detailed assign' ments, long examinations, and occasional reprif mands were in reality shaping his character. Encouragement and praise given to a deserving student are cherished and remembered throughout life. The teacher is a guide through the important years. S, , if-, 'NX-T K says? . OGTBALL MC KEESPORT HIGH wrapped up its 1954 football campaign with a record of four vicf tories and six defeats. This doesn't tell the story, however, as the Tigers, coached by Harold Duke Weigle, proved to be a troublesome opponent in WPIAL Class AA competition. Getting off to a poor start, the 1954 Tigers won only one of their first four games. Then came a pair of striking upsets as they downed high-ranking New Castle, 12f6, in a wellfplayed game, racking up 264 yards and 16 first downs, the next week they proceeded to hand a 19f13 setfback to the Trojans from Johnstown, who were rated before the contest as top team in points in the Class AA race. Following this taste of victory, the Tiger gridders suffered another slump, dropping three 'in a rowg in the finale, with a combination that clicked, they romped over Turtle Creek, 27-6. MCK.
