USS MCKEE: A NEW LEGEND The USS MCKEE is named in honor of the late Andrew I. McKee, a pioneer of submarine design and research. Admiral McKee has served several prestigious positions, including: officer in charge of submarine design for the Navy Department, Director of Design for the new classes of subs that evolved into the successful fleet subs of WWII, the Design Superintendent of the Portsmouth Navy Yard, and as Senior Assistant Fleet Maintenance Officer for the staff of Commander Service Force, Pacific Fleet.
