Standing: Tracie Laroche, batgiri; Ray Meadows, coach; Kelly Ward, Statistician; Ruby Baker, batgiri; Al Costner, John Littles, Greg lames, Richard Baker, Tyrone Sallins, Byron Alston, Ken Edwards, Mike Hawthorne, Robert Edwards, Eddie Wiley, manager; Bill Henry, coach The 1981 Baseball season at MCA proved to be not only exciting, but also successful as the Buccaneers brought home the 2-A East Sub-region championship. Under first year head coach Ray Meadows, the Bucs enjoyed a 9-9 season with all but four losses coming from AAAA schools. After a disastrous start, MCA came on strong in the last half of the season to win 8 out of 10 games. Four of these wins were most important as they came against sub-region foes Long Co., Charlton Co., and Patterson. The Bucs had several outstanding athletes on the '81 squad, including 6 seniors. Among these were James Green, shortstop and most valuable player; Byron Alston, leftfieid and best hitter; Robert Edwards, catcher and Buccaneer Award; Mike Hawthorne, Pitcher (6-3); John Littles, first base; and Greg James, right field.
