Special Education The goal of the educational program is to provide the sec- ondary-age youngster with those experiences which will per- mit him to think critically and act independently in his daily Ilife. A program which will permit the student to achieve his maximum social-occupational independence is required. Yarbrough Georgia College B.S. in Art Education Art The purpose of art education programs in high school are varied in meaning as the instructors who develop said purpose. At M.C.A. the pupil's purpose is best defined as to provide an introductory envi- ronment in art on the pupil's indi- vidual level. Experiences are cen- tered in the areas of painting, drawing, ceramics and weaving with direct emphasis on freedom ot expression in design. Yet essen- tially it provides abilities to con- struct a creative attitude toward life as the ultimate form of self-expres- si'on.

General Math S we.-- Mathematics The Mclntosh County Academy Mathematics Department, after observing the broad range of abilities and interests in our students, feel that a double-tracked mathematics pro- gram is required. The first program should consist of practical or applied mathematics for those who will terminate their formal educa- tion at the high school level. The second program is aimed at the college-bound stu- dent. These students have a sequential course of study which would adequately prepare them for pursuit of a college degree. ',i Caroline B.
