M ANDIN G F I ' . '. I' f. Lf' DIRK P DEVERILL COMMANDER, U.S. NAVY Commander Dirk P Deverill was born at Fort Campbell, Kentucky to COL and Mrs. Arthur Deverill, USA fRetj. In I976 he graduatedfrom the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics. He is married to the former Tracey Mosier of Fresno, Calqfornia. They have three sons Dylan, Call, and Dakota. Commander Deverills initial assignment was aboard USS TATTNALL KDDG-192, a guided missile destroyen homeported in Mayport, Florida. While aboard, he served as Anti-Submarine Waqfare Ojjicen and Navigator During his toun TATTNALL completed a deployment to the North Atlantic with Standing Naval Forces Atlantic fSTANAVFORLANTj and two subsequent Persian Gubf deployments. Commander Deverills initial shore assignment was as Officer Programs and Nuclear Power Recruiterfor Naval Recruiting District Columbus, Ohio. After completing Department Head School in 1985, Commander Deverill was assigned as Ship Control Ojiceig and ChiefEngineer in USS OLIVER HAZARD PERRY K FF G-7Q homeported in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. During this period PERRY completed a Great Lakes Cruise and Law Enforcement Operations C LEO Q in the Caribbean. In December 1987, Commander Deverill reported to USS JOHN F KENNEDY KCV-67j, homeported in Norfolk, Wrginia, as First Lieutenant. During this assignment he deployed to the Mediterranean with CARRIER GROUP THREE. Following Executive Ojjicer Afloat Training, Commander Deverill reported to USS DEYO CDD-9892, homeported in Charleston, South Carolina, in September I 989. DEYOls employment during this period included a deployment to the Middle East performing escort operations for shipping in the Persian Gubf and Law Emforcement Operations in the Caribbean. In June I 992 Commander Deverill graduated hom the United States Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. While attending the War College, he obtained a Masters Degree in Public Adnzinistration from Shippensburg University. Previously, Commander Deverill was assigned to the Joint Chiefs of Stajjfas a Politico-Military Planner in the European Division ofthe Strategy and Policy Directorate lJ5j. while assigned to the Joint Statf Commander Deverill completed Phase II Joint Professional Military Education KJPMEJ at the Armed Forces Stalf College in Norfolk. Wrginia. Commander Deverills decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal lgold star in lieu of second awardj, and other unit, campaign, and sewice medals.
