I have a rose for each sweet smile, A thorn for every frown, Each rose is pressed close to my heart, Each thorn lies on the ground. And now the days roll quickly by, But what have we to fear, Some day we'll wander far away, Our love will guide us here. We vowed our love eternally, So very long ago, When the parson made us man and wife, Where now the roses grow. MAXINE EMERY Senior 30

CLASS PROPHECY Bev yawned as she sat up. Oh, what a dream! she thought, but what had awakened her? Then she heard it, the front doorbell. Running to the mirror she hastily combed her hair. Oh, I look a wreck, but thatys what I get for sleeping after dinner. Opening the door, she saw Maxine standing before her. Come on in and make yourself comfortable, she said. I've just been napping, and what a dream I had! I dreamed we had a class reunion back at old McIA. Why, how odd! I suppose reading about Bob Hatley capturing those bank robbers set you to thinking about the rest of the class. Tell me about it. Bev shut her eyes a moment to recall. I can see the hall we were in so plainly, she said. It was decorated in our class colors, and there was a large calendar on the wall with May 27, 1975, circled. Why-that's next week Friday, Maxine exclaimed. My goodness, that's right! Well, to get back to the dream, everyone told what they had done since graduating. Most were quite interesting. Dora had gone to college and graduated a stewardess. Later, she married and settled down in the country. Bessie was married soon after graduation too, but first she completed her courses to be a beautician. She still does a bit of work in her spare time, but her family keeps her rather busyfl What about Phyll-did she become the world's greatest secretary, as she said she would? asked Maxine. Well, she is well on her way. In the dream, she had entered a contest, the win- ner to be the best secretary in the U. S. A. She was tied with two other women for that title. If she wins, she will be the only married woman to achieve that honor. Mary went into the secretarial line of business too, but gave it up when she married. How about the boys? Did they have anything to say? Oh yes! Bob Ward joined the Armed Services after graduating. Now he has one of the finest farms in this part of the country and is quite a power in his town. He always could convince people his way of thinking was right, even when it wasn't. P, J. has a garage and is one of the best mechanics in New Hampshire. Bob Hatley was just as famous a state trooper in the dream as he is in reality. He had just received a commission for his work in breaking up a dope syndicate. Reg went into the business field, and became an accomplished bookkeeper in a large firm. Pat and joan became skilled X-Ray technicians. Both are married now, and their families take up most of their time. No room left for professional work. Barbara is in South Africa working as a missionary. Marilyn is a missionary too. She is in Spain just now. Both she and Barbara studied in the U. S. before going abroad. Well-that was some dream! Did I saygl had been a waitress until I married? asked Maxine. Yes, and I was just going to say that I had been a waitress too, but you came and woke me up. Well, it's getting late, and I've got to start supper. The kids will be home in a short while.
