I 4 1 .if 4 Q, 12 E x , GIRLS BASKETBALL The Mclndoes Lassies captained by Justine Brooks went through its season, unde- feated in league play, to win the Hilldale League cup for the fourth straight year. Sen- iors on the team were as follows: forwards-Catpain Justine Brooks and Joan White, guards-Irene Goss, Ramona Dickinson, and Carolyn Choate. Justine Brooks and Ramona Dickinson were given positions on the Vermont All- State Girls Team. The girls played 18 games with a final 16 wins and 2 losses. The 2 losses were each by one point to Lyndon Institute, champions of a B league. Maxine Emery was high scorer with 275 points, Justine Brooks was runner up with 265 points, with Joan White scoring 143 points, and Ruth Ann Griffin 76 points. First team members for next year's nucleus are as follows: forwards-Maxine Em- ery, Ruth Ann Griffin, Lyris and Norene Blake, Rita Hatley, and Linda Hufnagelg guards-Edith Hammond, Norene Lang, Brenda Emery, Bessie Dunn, Muriel Hunt, and Marilyn Paye. Wi E 2 5 i yi 3 .1 , 5- MCIA CHEERLEADERS Six cheerleaders were chosen this year by the faculty. They were Cleft to right! judy Conant, Freshmang Patricia Fenn, Seniorg Beverly Hadley, juniorg Dorothy Dube, Seniorg Camille Sicard, Sophomoreg and Dora Dargie, junior. Christine Theroux was our substitute cheerleader. At the beginning of the year it was voted by the school that the present cheer- leaders would be in until the end of their Senior year. Substitutes of the past year would replace the retired cheerleaders. During the year we put on a dance to raise money in order to pay back the money borrowed from the classes last year. We also had a food sale so we would be able to have a cheerleading fund. I have certainly enjoyed cheerleading with the squad this year. They have been most helpful, co-operative, and peppy. BOYS BASKETBALL The Mclndoes Midshipmen started off with a bang under the fine coaching of Mr. Bowler. The Midshipmen excelled last years record as they won 11 games and lost 7. The first team consisted of: Seniors - Buddy DeRusha CCO-Captainjg Carroll Choate CCo-Captainlg Juniors-Philip Blanchardg Sophomores-Alton Maxwell, john Gilmour and Royce Pinard. The other fighters were as follows: Reginald Hunt, Maur- ice Slayton, John Crown, Bob Wright, Clifton Little, Neil Pollard, and the Beck twins. Top scorers were as follows: Alton Maxwell with 242 pointsg Philip Blanchard with 188 pointsg Royce Pinard with 138 pointsg John Gilmour with 113 pointsg Buddy DeRusha with 105 pointsg and Carroll Choate with 96 points.
