Q gettlng 6359. At our first class meeting we elected the following officers: . Presldent-Mar-on nadley, Vice Fresident-Carol Eieltra, Secretary- ou September 7, 1959. September 23 wwsa.big day for us. We wore Lniciaccd in the . f afternoon and evening with a lovelg reception Ln the academy hall. H December 21 we sponsored a Christmas party. - Our teachers for the year were: Miss Twitchell, Mr. Xgslng, 1 and Mr. Ferry. School closed June l3, 1950 and we were ready for Q real summel U vacation. In the fall of 1950 we returned to Nclndoes for our sophomore V M M year. Coreen lNl76l1S transferred to Groton. Robert Bigelow left us to join the Q U.s. Army. This left us with a class of seventeen. 5 Mr. Rising, Mr. McGeoch, Mr. Rasines and Miss Twitchell were the W knowledge givers for the year. , As Juniors we again gathered at Moll for another happy year. A In the early fall Marion Mclam Knee Hadley! left us to be mar- f ried. This left us with sixteen members. f Mr. Powell, Mr. Rasines, Miss Twitchvell and Mr. Kierstead were Q our teachers this year. We sold chocolate bars and soda pop and they increased our savings account quite a bit. On May 24 two of our girls entered the beauty contest at Woodsville Gloria Hammond, our most beautiful girl, won first prize. f As seniors we happily returned to take our stand once again. s 5 I an We sold hot-dogs and pop and made quite a bit on them. - On May 17 we had a supper at the Barnet School House which we made a profit on. In October, Gloria Moore, Knee Hammond! left us to get married. On April 3 we took part in the one-act play contest. Our teachers were the same as last year except for Mn Farrell who took Mr. Rasines place. As we graduate we are happy but still a little sad. The boys played 18 games this year winning 9 and losing 9. They were handicapped with the gi: loss of Ronald Crowe and Huck Aiken who were injured in a game and , were unable to play with the rest of the team in a number of games. M But with the other boys cooperating they made a successful year. U The top scorers were Bucky Aiken with 245 points followed by 5 Ronnie Crowe with 220, Philip Blanchard 120, Russ Moore 101, and Stub K Choate 86 This year the boys were handicapped with the loss of Kenny Emery7 Pratt and Gilbert Theroux. So they lost all the heights of thegf John team. But with Russ Moore, Phil Blanchard, John Gilmour, Buddy DeRusha, Royce Pinard, Richard Hatleyg Reg Hatley, Maurice Slayton, , Dick Strew Bud Bedell, and Reg Hunt, the boys put in a tough struggl with this hope graduating, Huck Aiken, Ron Crowe, Reg Hately and Dick Strew. , ! all of the teams. Cut of twenty games only two were lost and those were outside the league. They lost, to Crleans once, end Crford once. But es for as the Hilldsle League the girls, that fought sc hard end were always as a six-men team were undefeated. They also defeated Lisbon High 5 twice, Urford once, Nt. St. Joseph twice, and also the Alumni. The girls record battered ff this year as they only lost two games. Q The Championship cup presented to Capt. Justine Brooks, by Nr. Welch, President of a the hilldele League, at the Concord Award Dance, new has the name of Mclndoes Academy etched on it for the third time in succession, The team must have the championship for three Q years in succession before they een keep the cup. it They thought they would be handicapped this year with the loss of Louise Brown, Gloria, Hamzond, and Loucille Schillings whom graduated or left our team. But with Joen white sterping in louise's place end Mary Annie replacing Lcucille and Irene Goss in Glorie's ' olsoe we succeeded. A certain number of points were given for voice, poise, and motions. There were approximately fifteen 151 girls that tried out for it. There were four of last year's cheer- I leaders that were chosen again this year, with the exception of two new ? ones. The following were chosen: Cleft to right? Joan Crown, Seniorg Q Camille Sicard, Freshmang Sandra Brooks, Sophomoreg Carol Sheltra, Seniorg Dotty Dube, Juniorg and Bev. Hadley, Sophomore. At our first meeting we chose the captain and I was chosen. We also decided that we wanted different suits. We chose a suit that is similar N to a skating outfit. 2 We had a dance to raise money for the suits. The classes also con- 4 tributed some money because we did not have time to raise anymore beforeer basketball season. We are planning to pay them back. L We hired Mrs. Moore to make them. Q On behalf of the squad I wish to thank Mrs. Moore, the classes and 1 teachers for helping us during basketball season.
