I can see her now---- nHer boss is saying affectionately to her, 'You're the latest thing in typistsg you never get here until half-past tenl' H Lillian is also planning to teach. As we look in on her school room, she is discussing with her class the importance of being careful when crossing streets: UYou should always stop, look and listen before crossing the streets', she is saying. 'Oh, dcn't worry,' one youngster assures her, 'I always wait for the empty space to come by'.u Oscar Bergstad may be a farmer as far as I know. Tune in that future-scope, and let's see what's going on. HThe picture is coming in clear nowg it seems that a very excited oil well drilling crew is just getting ready to drill for oil on Oscar's land I wonder why the long faces and foolish looks when he tells them that they are drilling on the very spot where he drains his tractor when he changes the oil Due to her interest IH cars and sports,I propeoy that Delores will be the wife of a famous racer She has Just come home from up town in the family car She is saying to her husband,'I scratched the front fender of the car a little, Dear uld vnu mind taking a look at it? It's in the back seat ' H Fsther Johnson is going to be a missionary in some far off land Let's see if we can find her 'Already we are lost, but we can follow that native wus ahead to C1V111Z8tlOh Native? No, 1t's Fsther e'll follow her anyway We follow her through dense undergrowth and trees for about an hour before she realizes that someone is following her Surpri ed and bewildered, she says,'Dcn't follow me,kids, m lost too' Let's visit the mighty Navy of the future We'll turn the leotrc magnetic generator around so that we can find the Navv through their own radar NAS we walk out of the radar operator's room,we look around to find our sea faring friend, Bobby Manz By scouting around,we find him with his arm hanging out the port hole and his hand searching the sea water He's muttering something about never trusting an auto matic washer again l,Joann Ramey,am working toward being an airline stewardess Since it IS hard to prophecy my own future, I can only hope to be soaring in the skies Jn the near future So.to whoever may be concerned wish us good luok, and maybe by that token, some of us will find my prophecy coming true, and some will be lucky enough to escape it S ENIOR CLASS WILL To tle Junlor ve will and becueath these m st precious DOSS9SS1OHS of oursfif the Juniors will have tnem Ro er Roberta Osoar Joann Delores Esther Bobby Sher n Corrine and heran His telephone number Buddy Knox Last year' exces book report points Henry 31,000 from her inheritance from Engli h roxalty Henry Her griduati n yea necrlace Sorry, alre dy been claimed Cheerleading gob Clayton His ddress Corrine 9 r . . . . u H '. . . .. , , A . ' SENIOR CLASS HISTORY As we look back tsslve years to 1947, the year for our first year, we see that there were only two here in McHenry, namely, Oscar Bergstad and Lillian to complete all tsslve years here Lillian was not as her folks moved to Washington during her second year and for her fifth year It should be mentioned, too, that Eldon we eagerly walked into school of our number that began school Oscar was the only one attend all twelve years then :turned to McHenry Conant started here in Hazer able to first grade and stayed with us through his junior year, when he decided that the Navy needed him more Joann Ramey added her membership to the class during the last part of the fourth year There were not any more additions until 1 he seventh grade when Roger Aaker, Bobby Manz, and Delores Hoyt joined the group During these first eight years, each year we would look forward to such events as picnics, music festivals, Christmas programs, Y C L, and Mothers Day Programs as well as other things which made these years what they were For our Freshman year, there were two more added to the group, namely, Roberta Somerville and Esther Johnson During our Freshman year, along with the Sophomores, we presented the play, 'Father Be Calm The teachers that faithfully stood before us and tried to get some sense into us were Supt Haavig, Principal Rau, and Miss Hannah Nordmark Our Sophomore year found all of us back eager for another year This year we had new teachers Mr Olson replaced Mr Haavig as superintendent, and Mr Flaagan replaced Mr Rau as principal and coach Mr Olson directed the play uAunt Tilly Goes to Town' , which the Freshmen and we presented In our junior year, our class presented the play The Funny Brats under the for their parts' We also enjoyed getting ready and giving the program for our Junior Senior banquet Though we were quite concerned about each of our parts, all of us had an enjoyable evening Our last year has finally arrived It seemed that we would never make it, but as we look back, the time has really gone fast This year was no exception, as all of us were kept busy On October 15, during Teachers' Institute, our class went to all the neighboring towns, selling annual ads We thought we were very successful salesmen On the 17th of October, our class motored to Jamestown and had our pic- tures taken. We trust that the photographer's equipment stilllmrked after we left Another important day was when Mr Larson, who had replaced Mr Flaagan as principal and coach, went with us to Carrington for the Vocational Guidance Program, which was for all seniors in the county This year the juniors and we seniors staged the play, The Custers' Last Stand , which to us was a howling success, with Indians, cowboys, and what have you Two of us, Esther Johnson and Joann Ramey, also helped the Freshmen and Sophomores put on the play, NStop the Wedding We were also glad for the senior privileges which we engoyed during the month cf lay On some of these free afternoons we washed cars to earn money for our senior trip, though we were s bit disappointed that the weather didn't cooperate We also sold magazine subscriptions to finance our trip Sunday night, May 17, was our Baccalaureate service Rev W Clarence Johnson was the speaker The night of May 21 was what we all had been looking and working for-graduation Roger Asker was our Valediotorien and Roberts Somerville our Salutatorian Professor A B Holm of Mayville was the guest speaker The climax to our year was our trip to the Black Hills in South Dakota We left HcHenry on lay 25 Mr Larson and Emery Hoyt were the drivers We all enjoyed very much the trip and the beautiful things we saw, The doors of McHenry High School have closed behind us, but, new, better, and bigger doors now open as we gc into a different type of life that will fulfill our dreams and ambitions ' . n t I . ll .I . .
