INDUSTRY . . HERE WE COME President, Eric Cabrielson: Vice President, Harry Cookg Secretary, Juanita Byron: Treasurer, Leona Martin: Student Council, Mary Lou Alloreg Class Advisor. Mrs. Nellenlxark. For the 23 members of the class of N553 this has been a wonderful year. It has marked the completion of twelve years of study, effort and fun. This was the Big Year. We were the first in the lunch line. We were Seniors. One Hundred Ninety-four days of adventure lay ahead. Almost before we knew it, the time had arrived for the Senior Play. There was the usual pre-performance chaos at rehearsals, but under the direction of Mrs. Anthony we made the grade and on November 4-5 we presented The Im- portance of Being Young to the public. The scenery had barely disappeared when we began to sell yearbook ads. Working together we demonstrated our salesmanship on this project. Even as we sold ads, we were planning our trip. Room 33 was the scene of true classroom democracyf, as we voted. vetoed, and voted again on the trip's details. With everything planned, we left for New York and Washington on April 8. We enjoyed five enchanting days as we saw the sights of our largest city and the Nation's capitol. All too soon we were headed home. Our trip was over but we would never forget the fun we had experienced as we saw the Empire State Building, the UN Headquarters and the Statue of Liberty. We would never forget the beauty of the Capitol Building and the feeling of awe as we viewed the great monuments and documents that are in Washington. All during these many activities, we had our daily classes with the usual homework. Surely no one had as much to do as we in such a short time. With words of friendly advice and help from Mrs. Nellenback, our class advisor, we solved many of the problems peculiar to Seniors and carried on through the big year. Our class was very active in extracurricular activities. Seven of our boys participated in sports during high school. We have been represented in Band, Chorus, Cheerleading, F.F.A. and many other organizations at lVI.C.S. During the year we selected our class flower, white carnation, our class colors, light blue and silver, and our class motto, The greater the obstacle, the more glory in overcoming it.
