Shakespeare has told us, Seven Ages Constitute the life of mang but to the high school senior, twelve years make up his span of learning, activities, dreams and aspirations. As we. 39 seniors, look across the horizon of time that holds our future, we pause, just before the veil of high school days is rent asunder, to glance backward and enjoy anew our days of education at M,H,S, Trudging reluctantly to school on a hot, sultry day in September, 1940 were all of the cutest little boys, and '7 pretty girls in freshly ironed dresses. We're sure Miss Marybelle McQuiston and Mrs. Mai-Mai Turner kept the photos and names of these: Jesse Bayne, Joe Cornelius, Bobby Joe Hickingbotham, Robert Lacey, Jimmy Poe, Donald Pearson, Dicksonkial, David Roswell, Bobby Smith, Frank Sturgeon, Burvil Valentine, Bonnie Baker, Wanda Lou Britton, Patsy Hargis, Mary Gay- nelle Maupin, Joline Tiner, and Betty Sue Welch. As a few years passed we began to look forward to our sixth grade banquet, with the new dresses and new suits and the dates we would have. By this time Louis Burgess, Margaret Boyd. Barhargggn-ggi. Lanelle Crumpler, Dorothy Doss, Betty Rae Hamburger, and Eddie Wright hadjoined our class. Finally the great day arrived for the banquet. The banquet was based around a circus theme with Frank Sturgeon as toastmaster. Junior High Schoolcame slowly but surely. Then we realized that we had come half-of-the-way and we started look- ing forward to the day when we would be mighty seniors. Those who joined us in junior high and began to look with us were Sylvia Clark, Wayne Coulter, Eugene Gilliam, Tommy Lickhart, and Frank Vardaman. As we advanced up the ladder ofeducation, we were sorry to see Bobby Pearson, Don Hull, Bobby Rice, Gene Wood- small, Richard Stark, George Long, Robnault Sherman, Ruth Wilkerson, Helen Garrett, and Velda Fern Haynie leave us, but things brightened up as Carl Carter, Arlis Gash, Claudine Mormon, Dan Mormon, Darlene Shannon, and Teddy Watts joined us during senior high. The highlights of ourlunior year were our play, Fixin' Aunt Fanny, our dance, and banquet with the Oriental Garden theme. We will never forget this year, and the work of our sponsor, Mr. Ford, who worked so hard right along with us. Another phase of our junior year was Boys' and Girls' State. Those who represented us at Boys' State werelesse Bayne, Tom- my Lockhart, Dickson Rial, Louis Burgess, Jimmy Poe, Eugene Gilliam, and Bobby Hickingbotham. Those present at Girls' State were Sylvia Clark, Barbara Conrad, Betty Rae Hamburger, Gaynelle Maupin, Ioline Tiner, and BettySue Welch. As we reach the final step of the ladder that ends our high school career, we will never forget the memories ofGrad- uation, parties, senior play, and our last Junior-Senior banquet and prom. We are both glad and regretful that we are fin- ishing our senior year. :ww M55 Ujfcm MYRTLE BIGGS Reporter BUDDY RILEY. Today, however, K. A. T. stands also for higher ideals and high scholastic stand- ards. This year we gave dances following football games, for the players. In addi- tion to the annualChristmas banquet and dance, we sang carols, thereby at- taining funds to help several needy families, We responded heartily to the call to assist with the March of Dimes and Poppy Sale. It is the sincere desire of all members and sponsors that K,A.T. never lose sight of its lofty aims and always be a permanent institution on the McGehee High School campus. Mary B.
