The offical McGavock Homecoming Presentation began at 6:55 on Saturday night, October 28. The queens were chosen by the football team. McGavock ended up with a Homecoming court of 23 queens. As the band began their performance, the cheerleaders were introduced. ‘‘The Summer of ’42” was the back- ground music for the presentation of the queens. Each girl carried a bouquet of flowers and was escourted by a Senior football player. A float, designed and constructed by Coach Rigsby, the cheerleaders and the art department, seated the queens during the game along with their umbrella and hotdogs. The Senior band members were presented during the half time. The victory score of 14-7 over Gallatin brought Mc- Gavock’s First Homecoming — 1972 to a successful close.
