Astronomy The course in astronomy is one of the many unique features of the Mc- Gavock academic program. This is the first and only full credit astronomy course offered anywhere in the state, and more than 100 McGavock stu- dents have elected to study astronomy. The planetarium serves as the laboratory for astronomy and space science. The main aspects of the sky are realistically simulated by means of a Spity A4 planetarium projector and the accompanying auxilliaries. Motions of the sun, moon and five naked eye planets are accurately repre- sented and most of the stars which are visible to the unaided eye may be projected. Controls allow the instrument to be adjusted so that the sky may be presented as it would appear from any place on earth and as it would appear at anytime in the past or future.
