The Senior Advisory Committee was among the very first groups organized at McGavock High School. Formed during the summer, the members of this group were notified to come to the then incomplete McGavock High School, before even the final de- cision concerning bussing had been made. The students who composed the Senior Advisory Committee were chosen because of student offices they were currently holding or would have held this year at their original high schools. Since these students had been chosen by their peers to represent them at their various schools, the administration felt they would, by working together, be qualified to help bring the student body at Mc- Gavock together as a united group. Since McGavock High was to include students from so many high schools, the Senior Advisory Committee included pupils from the dominant schools McGavock would consist of. There were three stu- dents from Cameron, three students from Donelson, and three from Two Rivers. Antioch and Central each contributed one student to the committee. The Senior Advisory Committee was the only form of student government at McGavock until the stu- dent council was formed late in the year. For one entire semester, this group was the main link the students had with the administration. The Senior Advisory Committee had many ac- complishments during the 71-72 school year. Some of these were: Choosing the school colors Deciding upon the McGavock mascot Designing the class r ing Choosing the format for student council Among their last duties was coming to a decision concerning graduation invitations and caps and gowns.
