Tk Pxopfi Cy C1m$ ofo 1961 Let us look into the future when the senior class of 1961 has gathered for their class reunion. First, however, let us make our apologies to the world for placing such a group on the shoulders of a nation that has thusfar survived fire, war, civil conflict and tornadoes, yet has never experienced such a happening as the class of '61. The first person we meet is Marilyn Lieuallen Calhoun who has been to a convention for Air Force wives held at Adams. She was the chairman of the Greenland delegation. Stopping in to say hello are Miss Susan McEwen who is now conducting the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. With her is Lynn Whit- acre, the famous fortuneteller of the world. Over by the punch bowl is that man about the fashion circles, Roger Roth. He recently introduced the sweatshirt tuxedo in flashy colors of purple and orange. Talking to Rog A1 is the noted Certified Public Accountant Bill Beebe. It is rumored that Bill invented a machine that can balance all figures. Here comes Nick Simpson, the dentist, who has made a fortune putting braces on the teeth of hippopotamuses. With Nick is Dr. David Scott, the world reknowned physicist who brought about the atomic bubble gum that gives you a radiant personality. Galloping in on that wooden rocking horse is Judy Johnson who now manages the Umapine Dance Hall. Here's Coach Dave Harden of the Adams Dirty Sox who just this year won the national football championship. The coach is escorting Sharon Zo- nich who is presently manufacturing Corral No. 5 perfume which is made from horse eyelashes. There's Marvin Nichols, a noted hair stylist who is modeling the Nichols Roll, an offshoot of the French Roll. Talking to Marv is Carlene Woodward who shocked the world by becoming an international gambler witl? the twenty cents she bet on the outcome of the inter-class competition contest during her junior year. Over by the swimming pool are Karen Tinsely and Pamela Sincleir. They are both managing secretaries in the many offices of the Wayne Richards Lumber Company. He has found a way to produce boards out of com- pressed tumbleweeds. As we wander up the walk to the main house, we see Ina Black, the oil tycoon. Ina struck oil in South Africa after graduation from McEwen High School and is now retired. Here's our host Mike Dunlap. Mike purchased this estate following a prosperous tennis tour of the southern states. Over tipping by the punch bowl is Gina LaVoom. She is the former Linda White who has spent her time sweeping Hollywood off its feet with her long blond hair. Miss LaVoom recently starred in the magnificent I Was a Teen-Age Gum Drop Thief. She also played the lead in Murder in the Linen Closet. As we enter the dining room we meet John Gibson and Gerry Grimes. John is now the owner of the Gibson Sofa Company. Gerry is the owner of the dog freight line in Alaska. Lorre Hiatt is presently on husband no. thirteen and is residing in an English castle. Lorre is enjoying a chat with Sharlet Smith. Sharlet Smith and her husband are the owners of a service station chain but are having trouble getting cars to come to Mexico. The last graduates we see are Nan Coppock and Sally Christopher. Nan is now explaining the Coppock theory on anti-magnetic areospace forces on Pluto. Sally is touring the southwest with her string of race horses. She started the business by running her horse Flint for five dollar bets and has gone on to win the Kentucky Derby several times. The horse she has entered this year is Guitar String and is strongly favored. As we sit down to dinner we look back on our four years at McEwen High School and hope that we weren't too unbearable. Once again our apologies go to the world for such an incident as the class of '61. MRS uM luiss tfi Sg u£W Boys In August of 1960, football practice started with five seniors, five juniors, 13 sophomores and 10 freshmen turning out. In all, 35 players turned out, the largest number in McEwen’s history. Facing a building year with a very young team of eleven returning lettermen, only four of whom were regulars on the 1959 championship team, and with probably the longest and toughest schedule a McEwen team has ever had to play, the Scotties won three, tied one and lost five. Only Umatilla and Joseph beat the Scot- ties with any respectable margin. McEwen scored an average of 8.8 points a game and the opponents scored an average of 10. 5 points a game against us. Dave Scott, a co-captain of the Scotties, received the honor of being chosen an alternate to the 1961 shrine team. The JV's won five out of six games, so McEwen is looking for fine things to come.
