BETSY DELIVERS VALEDICTORY SPEECH Elizabeth Ann Ketcham, Betsy or Fri- day to her friends, has been an active Mc- Ewenite for four years. Winning a speech trophy her sophomore year, Betsy went on to hold the offices of student-body treasurer, Girls' League treasurer, senior class presi- dent, and 'Highlander' editor. She was chosen by the American Legion Auxiliary to attend Girls' State in Salem, Oregon, and is active in community and church work. The youngest member of her class, Betsy grad- uates at the age of 16 with a 3.68 grade point average. She will continue her educa- tion at Linfield College, McMinnville, Ore- gon. MARY ALICE NAMED SALUTATORIAN Mary Alice Alderman, graduating with a grade point average of 3.42, has participated in Torch Honor, Thespians, Glee Club, and Science Club. A great one for holding of- fices, Mary Alice has been class president and secretary. Girls' League secretary, and Rainbow Worthy Advisor. She was chosen by the American Legion Auxiliary as a dele- gate to Girls' State in Salem, Oregon. A 1958 member of the Junior Prom Court, Mary Alice will continue her education at Willamette University in Salem.
