STUDENT COUNCIL Left to Right—Back Row: Mr. Simpson, Warren Hunt, Carroll Cannon, Merle Mathwick, Hamlin Christenson, Lois Fuson, Jo Ann Huffman, Lyle Hinkins. Front Row: Garry VanOcker, Marita Carlson, Kenneth Williams, Connie Harris. The Student Council served as a governing body for McEwen High. It was composed of all the elective officers of the Student Body and all the class presidents. Mr. Simpson acted as advisor. With the establishment of a new system, the Council had a huge job. Many new ideas and customs have been adapted that will stand for a good long time. The Student Council first discussed any change in their regular meeting and then brought it before the Student Body to be voted upon. This was found to be the most effective and democratic way to carry on business.
