Yet, the squad came through in many unbelievable clutch situations and were among the top contenders in the rugged Northwest conference this season. The starting unit who kept the Titans near the top of the heap were John Logan, Jeff McIntosh, Jimmy Willis, Wes McKinney, and Todd Swepson. FIRST ROW: Danny Lowdermilk, John McKesson, Terry Baker, Joey Burnette, Stenson Conley, Beau Norman, Dennis Poteat, Todd Swepson, Glovier, Lynn Silver, Jeff McIntosh, Eddie Smith, John Logan. SECOND Wes McKenney, Assistant Coach Bobby Bowers. ROW: Head Coach Ken Griffin, Mike Dobson, Jimmy Willis, Wayne 127 Coach Mary Allison claims that she had a wealth of talent to work with this season. The first edition of the Titanettes featured good height, quickness, ball handling ability, aggressiveness, and teamwork. Putting it all together, the girls were one of the top teams in the area and were nearly unbeat- able in conference play. The Titanettes should be very strong again next year with some returning letter winners and a year of teamwork as a new unit in the Northwest Conference. Ce ees “ee For We’ll Be Together — “Getting it all together” in any yearbook over the course of a school year always involves a certain amount of confusion, problems in communication, and making sure the right name goes with the right picture. With this first edition of the ODYSSEY,we had our work cut out for us. Many people were instrumental in assisting us with the tremendous task of “getting it ALL together”... the school administration — from the county office, down to the individual schools; photography support — Mr. Cliff Doutt of Curry Studios, Mr. James E. Johnson, Mr. E. M. Cooke, Mr. Joseph Swann, and The McDowell News; The Carson House, operated by the McDowell County Historical Society; Lyrics from “United We Stand”, copyright © by Belwin-Mills Music, Ltd.; Mr. Al Dexter of American Yearbook Company.
