The 1ris Staff oi 1937 As thousands of lingers turn the pages of this book, and thousands of eyes read between the lines, when gaze after gaze seeps beneath the pensive looks on the faces of the staff, per- haps there will be a few, in the days ahead, who will realize that the lV1cDonell Iris of 1937 was a fancy born in the hearts of the students at the advent of their high school days, a reality at the close. The explosion of the pent-up emotions set the wheels moving, and in a few months, a gigantic project which will require an eternity to forget, was viewed as a success by those who had worked stubbornly, doggedly to see their publication a masterpiece. Words are meaningless when thanks are proferrecl, but it is our most sincere wish that the faculty, the student body, and that great army, the business and professional men, under- stand our infinite gratitude for the cooperation extended, with- out which our dream would have been a haunting memory of what might have been. The fascinating art work of the 1937 Tris was done by Marie Bresina and Medard jasper whose talent is no longer hidden. The business manager, Ione Forrester, and her genial assistant, Ethel Hughes, carried on in the true fashion of Mc- Donellites of the past, in making the yearbook a hnancial suc- cess. To the associate editors, Kathleen Phalen, Mildred Rit- zinger, jane Sullivan, and Warreri Smith, we are indebted for the many hours of their time, which they gave so willingly during the many days previous to May 10, when the Iris went to press. Mucli credit is also due to the sports editors. the class photographers, and the advertising managers for their excell- ent work which elicits immediate appreciation when seen. McDonell, we salute youl May our 1937 Tris be kept within your folds, as a tribute to our memory, as we shall for- ever hold you dear to our hearts. -Sue Ermatinger, Editor-in-Chief
