The Y Teens were formerly known as the Girl Reserves They, like the other thousands of girls clubs in the world changed their name as a part of a world-wide movement lo mod- ernize clubs and make them more appealing to girls The new club follows even more close- ly the ideals and principles of the Young Women s Christian Association. Its purpose is: To build a fellowship of women and girls devoted to the task of realizing in our common life those ideals of personal and social living to which we are committed in their paths as Chris- tians Today the Coseho Y Teen club consists of more than 60 high school girls. These jun- ior and senior girls participate m many service progects which benefit both school and com- Nefw clubs with new icleals. McDonald has always taken pride in its fine swimming poo , the only one of its kind in the area. Under the direc- tion of Miss Constance Marion, the Royal Swan swim Club was foillmed in 1951. Com inin a variet o swim- ming strokes and Etyles, algng with pre cision timing, the irst syncronized swim show made its debut. Participating in this club involves many long hours of hard work and determination to make the annual show a success. Burkey, on behalf of the Board of Education, accepted a check from Mrs. Edwin Baldwin to be used to purchase a bus to transport students for various school activities. The money was raised by holding a contest. The bus was formally presented to the new superintendent Mr. Howard McGowan, in September, 1952.
