Although the deadline nears and pressure mounts, layouts must be drawn and copy must be written. The hard work and pressure of meeting deadlines is bewildering at first but the final result, the 1966 Roller, makes it well worth the effort. o Carry on Yearbook Tradition www YU if Mr. Acri, yearbook photographer, comes to the school many times during the year to take ' pictures. Mrs. Mary Ann Baldwin and Mrs. Karen Collins, staff advisors, check and okay all layouts, designs, and copy before sending them to be published. Carol Siranovic, Dave Barrett, and Martha Rishel unwind following a tension-filled day of drawing up layouts and writing copy. John Johnson, Mike O'Hara, and Della Lawson find that ingenuity is a must for developing original ideas to complete the process of rolling Rollers. Student Council . . . u Miniature Government. There are cans everywhere you look! Where are we going to put them all? These cries were uttered many times by the committee of Student Council sponsoring the canned goods drive. The competition reached a peak as an all time record of over 2, 700 cans were collected for needy families during the Christmas season. Can committee Frances Bozin, Cheryl Zupon: vice president, Barbara Wheaton: Mary Catherine Dikung secretary, Martha Rishel: and president, Jon Barb pose with a variety of cans. i , i' McDonald High's student government is the organization which enforces fair school rules. Members of Student Council I are the presidents and secretaries of all the homerooms, president of Y-Teens, editor of the Informer, and managers of Swim Club. Student Council also plans a variety of proj- ects: supporting delegates for the Youngstown Youth Con- ference, holding a Scholarship Banquet at the end of the school year, and sponsoring a booth at the annual P.T.A. Members of the Board of Education are Mr. Loren Jensen, Dr. Marie Krupko, and Mrs. Nick Bellitt. Superintendent 's Message American education must change constantly, not merely for the sake of change, but in order to meet the needs of a changing society as they occur. Stability does have a definite place in the overall scheme of things. Change with little or no regard for proven criteria has contributed very little to the improvement of education in this country. Change, whether planned or random, must result in definite improvement. lt is not sufficient that something merely be done differentlyg evaluation must be a continuous procedure. Every innovation in education, every modification or addition in curricular offerings, every new in- structional technique should have to be justified on the basis of realistic educational criteria. We, the faculty and administration of the McDonald Public Schools, are constantly planning and evalu- ating the innovations in education and curriculum that have been tried and found realistic to provide a better educational program for the boys and girls of McDonald Schools. Planned change is orderly, and it is a necessity in the ever-growing school system of this nation. Mr. Fred Molin, Mr. Robert Scarbrough, and Mr. William Rea survey the proposed additions to the high school. These new additions will extend the educational program and supply the school with the newest equipment. WILLIAM E. REA Superintendent McDonald Schools The Custodians . . Our Crew of Handymen, Mr. William Magill and Mr. Alvin Bell handle the many custodial tasks at our grade school. No task, large or small, escapes the attention of our hard-working custo- dians, Mr. Walter Collins and Mr. William Doumom. Mrs. Anna Kieltsch adds a woman's touch to the night-time janitorial duties at the grade school. Mr. Paul Jones, is the new night-time custodian at the high school. l as 4 39 Seventh Graders .
